My Journal:

Sept. 11, 2005 - 9:18pm, Hawaii

I'm sitting in the airport in Honolulu, Hawaii, listening to my discman and writing this journal. My journey to Australia has been a long one so far, as I have been awake for 25 hours as of yet...

The trip itself, from me leaving Saint John at 5:45am to me arriving in Sydney, Australia, at 6:30am (their time), is a total of 36 hours... ouch.

Sept. 12, 2005 - 11:04pm, Home (In Australia)

I have just finished setting up an web account to post this site. There will still be updates to it on regular occasions so don't worry about that.

My remaining flight from Honolulu went well, as I was able to sleep for a couple hours and watch a couple good movies (ie. Mr. and Mrs. Smith).

After getting back to my Mom's house (now to be known as "Home"), I played on my Mom's iMac, making music in a program called Garage Band. It looks like it will be a very promising tool in my music career future. After using it, I relaxed a bit, then went to bed @ 5:00pm. I got up at 6:00am the next morning, feeling much better than when I went to bed. Hopefully, my jet lag will get better soon.

Sept. 16, 2005 - Sydney

Hey all... I'm back home from an interesting day in Sydney. My sister (Angela) was invited to go to a taping of the the kids group Hi5. Charli, one of the group members, is a friend of the family, so she invited her. I got to meet some Aussie showbiz ppl, and see how a studio works. The building is also the studio for Australian Idol. The trip was quite interesting... click here for some picts of the day.

Tomorrow (Saturday), I will be going to the music practice for the new church I'm going to (my mom's church, not Hillsong). They haven't even met me yet but they want me to be on the music team!! I guess my mom has bragged me up a bit, lol. I'll let you all know how it goes...

Sept. 19, 2005 - Home

Ah, it's Monday morning... and I feel like crap... lol. I got hit by jet lag again this morning (having felt it Saturday morning as well) and I hope I will recover soon.

Last Saturday afternoon, I went to the location where Oasis church (my mom's church which I have adopted) sets up every week. They were at a permanent location for a couple years but the building was owned by a denomination and was sold, so they are now holding service at a local community building.

In the afternoon, they set-up the staging, lights, sound equipment, etc. so that it will all be ready for the next day (Sunday). I was invited to come to the music practice and really enjoyed it. I played guitar and was able to learn the songs quickly. As a result I was asked to play the next day (if I felt comfortable) so I said "Sure!"

The sunday service went well and I wound up playing guitar for my first Sunday on my Australian journey: The Expedition! Feel fre to CLICK HERE for pictures from the day.

Sept. 26, 2005 - Home

Here at home again I am writing about my weekend. On Saturday I went to a Christian music conference for the whole day. It was an awesome experience with good teaching, good workshops and good music. I was in the songwriting workshop where 8 of us from the main group of song writers got together to write a song together. It was really neat how we all wrote lines (with the same idea in mind), put them together and it actually worked. The whole day was awesome...

On Sunday I got to lead the music and play guitar at the church I attend. Only my 2nd week there, I got asked to lead because the main lead vocalist is going to be away for 3 weeks. I think I had every songle person come to me after and tell me that they really appreciated it and that I did a good job. It was pretty cool... CLICK HERE for a pict...

Sept. 26, 2005 - Home

Yet another weekend gone by... and I found myself leading the music at Oasis Church. This week (because it is the first Sunday of the month) we had a PM service aside from the morning service.

Both services went well but were tiring. I had been battling a bit of sickness since Thursday but a horrible Saturday practice turned into 2 great services, so all was well.

I will post pictures soon...

October 15, 2005

Well, it's been a little while since my last entry... in that time I've lead the music again at Oasis church, had my 18th birthday, and got a job!

Last Sunday was yet another good day of music, with a new arrangement of the stage and seating helping things. At the end of the service Pastor Mike found out it was my birthday the next day, so he prayed for me to have an awesome birthday and to find work soon. After the service I invited a couple friends over (thoug one of them couldn't come last minute) and I had a bbq and small cake.

On my birthday itself, it was a vegging day... I slept in and had a simply lazy day...

The next day I got word that I might be able to get a job at alocl cafe, as the owner was a member of my church and was interetsed in giving me a casual job. I sent my resume that day and got a reply back immediately that I could go for a trial run the next day! I went, everything went swell, and now I have a job. I work 2 days a week (a total of between 6-9 hours a week) starting at 10.50 an hour. If you didn't guess, wages are a bit higher here than back in New Brunswick...

All in all, I've had a great week, and hope they keep getting better!
